Cooperative Supports Worthy Cause
HD Electric and Gunderson, Evenson, Boyd, Knight & Stoltenburg, LLP, Attorneys at Law, teamed up this year to join the Deuel County New Hope Walk for Cancer on Friday, July 18th. A total of $18,348.95 was raised by 19 teams this year for the fight against cancer of which our teams 16 member raised $1,934 by selling luminaries, donations and through our buffalo burger feed during the Crystal Springs Rodeo weekend at the end of June. This amount gave our team top honors for the walk. Our team sold 140 luminaries of which team member Phyllis Niemann sold 28 to classmates of Joyce Gauger who passed away from a form of cancer just a short while before our walk and who was a member of HD Electric.
Our "Giddy-Up a Cure For Cancer" coral hosted a time of rest and relaxation along with time for story telling during the breaks from the 7 hour walk. At 10:00 pm the list of names of cancer survivors and those that have passed on from cancer were read and the 1,440 luminaries were lit up. WHAT A SIGHT! Moments of stillness filled the air as the names were read and walkers strolled around the track reading the names on each bag.
